Just a head’s up to everyone that the next regular meeting of the Humanist Society of Gainesville will be at our regular time, the third Wednesday of the month, in this case Wednesday, May 15, 2013, in the social hall of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at 4225 NW 34th Street, at 7:00 pm.
Given that our group has shown a strong liking for expressing their individual opinions, our program committee decided to try a meeting quite literally led by the group as a whole. We will give individuals five minutes, this will be timed, to express whatever they are interested in to the group. A brief discussion will follow to allow the group to respond. So give this some thought and, if you feel so inclined, come prepared to put forward your favorite humanist related idea, proposal, problem, gripe, story, question, etc. We think that this will help us get to know each other better and yield a number of topics or subjects for future meetings. So whatever humanist related subject interests you, come prepared to tell everyone about it. If speaking to this group is not your cup of tea, please understand that you won’t be called on; just come and hear what’s on the mind of others in our group.
As usual you will be given the opportunity to contribute nonperishable food items or dollars, check or cash, to the FOOD4KIDS backpack program. School isn’t out yet and needy families still need to eat.
We look forward to seeing you Wednesday May 15.
Jim Sullivan, President
