Members and friends,
The August meeting of the Humanist Society of Gainesville will be at our usual time, the third Wednesday of each month, August 21, 2013, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship social hall at 4225 N.W. 34th Street, at 7 p.m. Our speaker will be one of our own members Mary Savage who will speak on the subject, “A Humanist looks at Social Safety Nets”. She will talk about what currently exists and what threats to these systems exist. As usual there will be plenty of time for discussion regarding what we think would constitute the “best of all possible worlds” or what would the ideal social system look like.
As we do at every meeting, we will be accepting contributions, food or money, for the Food4Kids Backpack program that continues to operate through the summer school program.
We look forward to seeing you at our August meeting.
Jim Sullivan, President
