Upcoming Meeting Reminder

From Jim Sullivan:

The Humanist Society of Gainesville will meet Wednesday June 20, 7:00 pm in the social hall of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship located at 4225 N.W. 34th Street. (Also on our Upcoming Events page). Just go north on 34th Street just past 39th Avenue on the right. It will be our first meeting at this location, a venue that we intend to use as a permanent meeting place, the third Wednesday of each month.

In this months meeting we will be discussing who we are and who we want to be. We will consider questions like, What do we freethinkers want? What does it mean to be a Secular Humanist? What do we hope to accomplish? To stimulate our thinking we will look at some of the ideas from Greta Christina’s book “Why Are You Atheists So Angry? 99 Things That Piss Off the Godless”. Come ready to hear, learn, and most of all participate in what promises to be a lively discussion.

Please remember that we will continue to support the Food4Kids Backpack Program through this summer. We will be accepting donations of nonperishable food items at this and all our upcoming meetings. So every time you go grocery shopping, pick up an item or two for this worthy cause and bring it to our meeting.
